Office pods: private spaces for open-plan and smart offices
Frezza office pods are pieces of furniture that create a private space inside open-plan offices, with no building work: an island for informal meetings, short conversations or group work, while staying in visual contact with the rest of the office. They are an alternative to the meeting room for meetings that don’t need a closed room, and they also fit into lounge areas and smart offices.
Together with sofas, armchairs, benches and poufs, pods are part of Frezza office lounge furniture and match the other seating in common areas: office sofas, reception armchairs, waiting room benches and designer poufs, in the fabrics and colors chosen for the project.
Meeting pods for informal meetings in open-plan offices
Alplus Meeting Pod, designed by Marco Zito, is a pod for small groups made up of two facing sofas, 140 or 160 cm long and 60 cm deep, with a seat height of 38 cm. A kit of 6 or 8 privacy panels, 118 cm high, in multilayer wood padded with polyurethane on both sides and upholstered in fabric, encloses the space around the sofas without closing it off: people sitting inside stay in visual contact with the rest of the office, as in an open meeting booth. The frame is in painted die-cast aluminum in white, taupe or black, with adjustable feet, and the seat can be upholstered in fabric or eco-leather.
Office pods equipped with a table, power sockets and a monitor
The pod can be equipped like a small meeting room. The Mediawall, a melamine or fabric-upholstered panel with openings for sockets and holes for cables, pairs with a trapezoidal table and an electrical box with two power sockets and one HDMI socket; alternatively, there is a 60×60 cm square table. The tables have a melamine top and come in a fixed-height or height-adjustable version with a gas lift. A power socket or a socket with two USB A+C ports can be fitted to the sofa frame, and the monitor totem, with side power and data sockets, lets you connect a screen for video calls or presentations. Coat hangers and magazine racks in sheet steel complete the pod.
Pods, sofas and desks from the Alplus collection
Alplus Meeting Pod is part of the Alplus collection, Marco Zito’s furniture system for offices and hospitality, which also includes meeting tables, bench desks, an executive desk, a sofa and a bench with the same design: this way the pod fits into the open-plan office next to the workstations with a consistent look. For lounge areas, the Alplus Lounge modular sofa creates more secluded areas with linear and curved fabric screens joined by zips, and each module can have a USB socket.

Office pods: frequently asked questions
What is an office pod?
An office pod is a piece of furniture that creates a private space inside an open-plan office with no building work. It can be a closed booth, designed for phone calls and focused work, or an open pod like Frezza’s Alplus Meeting Pod, made up of two facing sofas and privacy panels, for informal meetings in small groups.
Are office pods soundproof?
It depends on the type. Closed booths, with walls on all sides and a door, are designed to isolate the people inside from the noise of the open-plan office. Open pods mark out the space with seating and panels without closing it off: they create a more secluded setting for talking in a small group and keep visual contact with the rest of the office, but they don’t isolate sound like a closed booth. Alplus Meeting Pod is an open pod.
How many people fit in a meeting pod?
It depends on the length of the seats. Alplus Meeting Pod has two facing sofas, 140 or 160 cm long, designed for a small group sitting face to face: roughly four to six people, depending on the length of the sofas. For larger groups, a meeting room with a dedicated table is the better choice.
Can you add a screen to a meeting pod?
Yes. Alplus Meeting Pod can be fitted with a monitor totem, with side power and data sockets, and with an electrical box with two power sockets and one HDMI socket. A power socket or a socket with two USB A+C ports can also be added to the sofa frame to charge devices.
Where should you place a pod in an open-plan office?
It works best near the workstations, so people who need a quick meeting don’t have to move to a meeting room, but away from the main walkways and from areas where people work in silence. Lounge areas and common spaces are also a good fit, as the pod creates a private meeting point without closing off the room. If you use sockets, a monitor or a table with an electrical box, place it near a power supply.
