Modular office partitions the people using the space can move themselves
Not every division has to reach the ceiling. Modular office partitions organise an open plan while keeping it open: freestanding panels, screens between facing desks, movable walls on castors. They need no fixing to the building, no fitter and no notice — a team can reconfigure its own area in an afternoon, which is the point of an open plan that is expected to change. Frezza produces them in the same finishes and fabrics as its desks and storage, so the panels read as part of the furniture.
Freestanding panels and movable walls
Where a room has to be created inside a larger space without touching the structure, a freestanding system does it on its own feet. The Pal 82 system builds continuous runs and corners with no connection to floor or ceiling, in glass, melamine or fabric. The Pal Room system goes further and mounts on castors, so a meeting area can be closed off in the morning and opened again in the afternoon.
Desk screens and partition panels
At desk height the job is different: marking a boundary between workstations, cutting the line of sight across a bench and keeping cables out of the way. The Pal 38 system covers this range, fixed to the desk top or to the structure of a bench, in heights that stop short of standing eye level so the floor stays legible and supervision is not obstructed.
Acoustic panels: absorbing rather than blocking
In an open plan a low panel cannot block sound — the path over the top is always open — so it works by absorbing it. Fabric-faced panels with an absorbent core reduce reverberation and the distance over which a conversation stays intelligible, which is what actually makes an open plan workable. Where sound has to be blocked rather than damped, the specification moves to a full-height system: that is the role of the glazed and equipped walls, not of a screen.
Finishes, fabrics and cable management
Melamine, wood, glass and the Frezza fabric range, with the same colours as the desks and the storage units, so a floor can be furnished as one project. Panels take cable routes, trays and access points where they divide facing workstations, and accessory rails for monitor arms, shelves and personal storage, so the division also carries the equipment of the desk. Surfaces can be specified writable, which is useful in project areas and training rooms.
Full-height alternatives
When a space has to be genuinely closed, the range moves up to the full-height systems: office glass partitions where daylight and sightlines matter, equipped walls where the division also has to store, and the complete office partition walls range for the full picture. Frezza carries out the survey and the installation with its own technicians, and supplies technical data sheets and CAD files for every system.
Modular office partitions: frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a modular partition and a full-height partition wall?
A modular partition organises a space without closing it: it is freestanding or desk-mounted, stops below ceiling height and can be moved by the people using the area. A full-height partition wall creates a separate room, is fixed to top and bottom tracks and is installed by a fitter. The first is furniture, the second is a system.
Do modular partitions provide sound insulation?
They reduce noise rather than block it. Because the path over the top of a panel stays open, a screen works by absorbing sound: a fabric-faced panel with an absorbent core cuts reverberation and shortens the distance over which a conversation remains intelligible. For actual insulation between two spaces a full-height glazed or equipped wall is required.
Can modular partitions be moved without a fitter?
Yes, that is the purpose. Freestanding systems stand on their own base and the Pal Room system runs on castors, so a layout can be changed by the people who work there. Desk-mounted panels are unclipped and repositioned with ordinary tools.
Can panels carry cables and accessories?
Yes. Where panels divide facing workstations they take cable routes, trays and access points, and they accept accessory rails for monitor arms, shelves and personal storage, so the partition also serves as the structure for the equipment of the desk.
Are the finishes the same as the rest of the Frezza range?
Yes. Melamine, wood, glass and the Frezza fabrics share the colours of the desks, the storage units and the full-height partitions, so panels, furniture and walls can be specified as a single project rather than matched afterwards.
