Waiting room furniture: sofas, armchairs, benches and coffee tables for the office

Frezza waiting room furniture brings together the seating and accessories for the spaces where a company’s clients, suppliers and candidates wait: the office waiting room, the waiting area next to reception, and the seating areas along corridors and entrances. It is often the first space a visitor experiences from the inside, so it needs to be comfortable, tidy and consistent with the company’s image, and to stand up to intensive daily use.

Sofas, armchairs, benches, poufs and coffee tables are part of Frezza’s office lounge furniture: products from the same collection share upholstery and finishes, so they are chosen together and customized in the fabrics, leathers and colors of the project.

Sofas, armchairs and benches for the waiting room

Seating is the heart of waiting area furniture and is chosen according to how many people wait and for how long. Office sofas seat several people in a single piece. The Radar sofa, designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, is a two-seater with three backrests of increasing height that give more privacy without closing off the space; it has a lumbar cushion, a removable seat cover and optional accessories for power and network connections. Russell, by Claudio Bellini, has a frame in upholstered steel tubing and generous polyurethane foam cushions, is upholstered in fabric, eco-leather or leather with removable covers, and comes as a single armchair or as a two- or three-seater sofa.

Reception armchairs are the choice for short waits and smaller rooms: Sabree, designed by Monica Armani, is a sculptural tub chair with an enveloping seat and a swivel cylindrical base. Frame waiting room chairs, with an elastic mesh backrest and an upholstered seat, and the wooden Lash chair by Monica Armani, with a wraparound backrest and a seat in fabric or leather, offer a more upright seat to place alongside sofas and armchairs.

Waiting room benches offer more seats in less space along walls and corridors: the Domino range comes in one, two or three seats, also with backrest, armrests and corner modules, while for the busiest areas there are the beam benches Kone, made entirely of metal, and Poppea, from 2 to 5 seats. Design poufs add seats without crowding the space and can be moved wherever they are needed.

Coffee tables and accessories for the waiting room

Office coffee tables keep magazines, catalogs and a coffee within reach, and bring order to the seating layout. Mux70, by Stefano Boeri Interiors, has a rectangular or square top in Fenix or wood and can be used alone or in pairs to create color combinations. Ono, by Perin & Topan, is made of wood and metal, also with a melamine or HPL top, and is designed for the waiting areas of lounges and receptions. Sabree coffee tables have a base with a distinctive fluted rhythm, two sizes and two heights that can be grouped together, and tops in oak or glossy lacquer.

For brochures and information material there is the Sabree sideboard, in oak or lacquered, with three or four modules, a recessed plinth and an optional fabric-upholstered door: it completes the waiting room in the same language as the tub chairs and coffee tables of the Sabree collection.

Furnishing a small or large waiting room

In a small waiting room, the furniture should leave the center of the room free: compact armchairs or a two-seater sofa along one wall, a pouf as an extra seat and a single coffee table, so that whoever comes in immediately finds a place to sit and can move around easily.

In large waiting rooms and company entrances, seating is arranged in islands. The Afina modular sofa, designed by Ramos Bassols, has rounded shapes and corner modules that follow the layout of the space, while Alplus Lounge creates more secluded areas with straight and curved fabric screens joined together by zips, and each module can have a USB socket. Where many people pass through every day, seating also needs to be durable and easy to clean, such as beam benches.

Coordinated waiting room, reception, lobby and lounge

The waiting room is often an extension of the reception and the lobby, and in many offices it borders the break areas. By choosing sofas, armchairs and poufs from the same collections, such as Radar, Afina and Sabree, lounge area furniture, reception and waiting room speak the same language, with upholstery and finishes customizable to the project.

For architects and interior designers, technical sheets and DWG files of the collections are available, ready to use in the waiting room furniture layout.

Waiting room furniture: frequently asked questions

How do you furnish a waiting room?

open accordion Close

Start from how many people wait at the same time and for how long. Arrange the seating along the walls or in small islands, keeping the routes to reception and the doors clear, with a coffee table near each group of seats. Choosing sofas, armchairs and coffee tables from the same collection makes the waiting room tidy and consistent with the company’s image.

What do you put in a waiting room?

open accordion Close

You need seating for the expected number of people, such as sofas, armchairs, benches or chairs, one or more coffee tables for magazines and drinks, and a cabinet for catalogs and information material. A coat stand and a few sockets for charging phones complete the space: Frezza’s Radar sofa and Alplus Lounge modular sofa, for example, can be fitted with integrated sockets.

How much space do you need for a waiting room?

open accordion Close

It depends on how many seats you need at peak times. As a reference, Frezza’s Domino sofa is 132 cm wide in the two-seater version and 182 cm in the three-seater, while the matching armchair measures 82 cm. In front of the seating, allow room for a coffee table and a comfortable passage, including for wheelchair users: to check the layout, it helps to work on the floor plan with the DWG files of the collections.

How do you furnish a small waiting room?

open accordion Close

Place the seating along the walls and keep the center free, so the room feels larger and people can move around easily. Compact armchairs, a two-seater sofa or a bench take up less space than a large sofa, a pouf adds a seat when needed and a single coffee table is enough for magazines and drinks. Light colors and coordinated upholstery help keep the room from feeling cluttered.

Are DWG files available for waiting room furniture?

open accordion Close

Yes. In the Downloads area of the Frezza website, architects and interior designers can find catalogs, technical sheets and DWG files of the collections, ready to use in the waiting room project.
