Commercial outdoor furniture for restaurants, cafés, hotels and offices: metal chairs and stools, modular outdoor sofas and bistro tables
A sidewalk café, a restaurant patio, a hotel pool deck or a corporate courtyard works as hard as any indoor space, but under sun, rain and changing temperatures. Commercial outdoor furniture has to stand up to the weather and to heavy daily use, clean up quickly, stack or store at the end of the day or the season and match the style of the interior, so guests and employees move from inside to outside without noticing the border.
Frezza commercial outdoor furniture brings together steel chairs and stools, sofas and armchairs with outdoor upholstery and coffee and bistro tables in metal or HPL, to be chosen together and customized in the colors of the project, for restaurants, cafés, bars, hotels and outdoor workspaces.
Outdoor restaurant chairs and bar stools
On a patio, seating takes the most exposure and the most use. The Yo collection, by Progetto CMR, winner of the iF Design Award 2025, has an outdoor metal version: the Yo Metal chair has a steel rod seat with an embossed painted finish and cataphoresis treatment, in a wide range of colors from classic to bright tones, and takes a padded cushion in outdoor fabric or faux leather. The Yo Metal stool, 75 cm high, has the same cataphoresis-treated frame and the same optional cushion, for outdoor bars and high tables.
For patios that are set up and cleared every day, the Ador chair in glass fiber reinforced polypropylene works both indoors and outdoors, stacks up to 7 high and comes with or without armrests. Among Frezza chairs and stools you will find the matching indoor versions for the dining room.
Outdoor lounge sofas and armchairs for hotels and rooftops
Hotel terraces, rooftop bars and corporate gardens need seating where people stay longer. Alplus Lounge Outdoor, designed by architect Marco Zito, includes poufs, armchairs and sofas with continuous or reduced backrests, in modular elements to use on their own or combine into many configurations. Upholstery comes in fabrics and faux leathers made for outdoor use, in a single color or a combination of two, the feet are in black nylon and a removable cylindrical divider cushion splits the seating into separate zones. Frezza armchairs and sofas and poufs carry the same language into indoor lounges.
Outdoor bistro and coffee tables in metal and HPL
The table decides how the space is used: a quick coffee, a standing drink, a full dinner. The Yo Metal table has a 14 mm steel rod frame and a 3 mm metal top, both cataphoresis-treated, in heights of 48, 74 and 105 cm, and the 74 and 105 cm versions can have four under-top hooks for bags. Flamingo Outdoor, designed by Luca Nichetto, has a round top in HPL or metal, sturdy and easy to maintain, and a tubular steel base treated with cataphoresis and epoxy powder coated with an embossed finish, in four types that differ in height and top size. Frezza coffee tables cover the indoor side.
Outdoor workspaces
More and more companies take informal meetings, breaks and focused work into the garden, onto the terrace or into the courtyard. Yo Metal chairs, Alplus Lounge Outdoor sofas and 105 cm high Yo Metal tables create meeting points and touchdown spots for short work sessions that continue in the office furniture indoors. Commercial outdoor furniture then coordinates with bar and restaurant furniture, lounge area furniture and lobby furniture: by choosing chairs and tables from the same collections, such as Yo, dining room and patio stay consistent. For restaurant patios, see also our guide to outdoor furniture for restaurants.
For architects and interior designers, technical sheets and DWG files of the collections are available, to drop straight into the project of commercial outdoor furniture.
Commercial outdoor furniture: frequently asked questions
Can commercial outdoor furniture be left outside all year?
Frames and tops built for outdoor use can stay out through the season: Yo Metal and Flamingo Outdoor have cataphoresis-treated steel, Flamingo has epoxy powder coating and HPL or metal tops, and Ador is in glass fiber reinforced polypropylene. To extend their life, store or cover cushions when not in use, clean surfaces regularly and stack or cover the furniture during the off-season or long periods of bad weather.
What materials hold up best for restaurant patio furniture?
For heavy daily use, look for treated and powder-coated steel or aluminum frames, HPL or metal tops that resist stains and scratches, reinforced polypropylene for stackable chairs and fabrics and faux leathers rated for outdoor use. In the Frezza range, Yo Metal uses steel rod with cataphoresis, Flamingo Outdoor combines a cataphoresis and epoxy powder coated base with HPL or metal tops, and Alplus Lounge Outdoor is upholstered in outdoor fabrics and faux leathers.
What height should outdoor bistro and bar tables be?
Dining tables are usually around 74 cm high, bar tables around 105 cm with stools around 75 cm high, and low lounge tables around 48 cm. Yo Metal tables come in exactly these three heights, 48, 74 and 105 cm, and the 75 cm Yo Metal stool pairs with the 105 cm table for outdoor bar counters and standing areas.
How do you plan seating capacity on a restaurant patio?
Start from the permit: sidewalk café and patio permits, local codes and the fire marshal set the allowed area, clear walkways and exit routes, so seating capacity comes after those clearances. Then mix table sizes for parties of two and four, keep aisles wide enough for service, and choose stackable chairs such as Ador so the patio can be cleared and reset quickly.
